Coimbra is a city in Coimbra Municipality in Portugal. It served as the country's capital during the first dynasty, in the High Middle Ages, and remains home to the University of Coimbra, established in 1290, the oldest academic institution in the Portuguese-speaking world and one of the oldest in Europe and the World.
With a dense urban grid the city of Coimbra is famous for its monuments, churches, libraries, museums, parks, nightlife, healthcare and shopping facilities, but above all for its intense cultural life, centered on the University of Coimbra.

Coimbra es una ciudad portuguesa, capital del Distrito de Coímbra, situada en la Región Centro y subregión de Baixo Mondego, con cerca de 150.000 habitantes. Situada a poco más de 200 km de Lisboa y a 100 km de Oporto, está bañada por el río Mondego. Fue capital nacional de la Cultura en 2003.
Ciudad de calles estrechas, patios, escaleras y arcos medievales, Coímbra fue la cuna del nacimiento de seis reyes portugueses y de la primera dinastía, así como de la primera Universidad de Portugal y una de las más antiguas de Europa.

Ciudad patrimonio de la Humanidad
En 1985 la ciudad vieja de Segovia y su acueducto fueron declarados Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco. Dentro del entorno de la ciudad vieja, es decir, el casco antiguo, se levantan diversidad de edificios históricos tanto civiles como religiosos, y no sólo católicos, sino también judíos, como el barrio que ocupó esta minoría, que recuerda el paso de las diferentes culturas por la ciudad.

The Parthenon (Ancient Greek: Παρθενών) is a temple in the Athenian Acropolis, Greece, dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena, whom the people of Athens considered their protector. Its construction began in 447 BC and was completed in 438 BC, although decorations of the Parthenon continued until 432 BC. It is the most important surviving building of Classical Greece, generally considered to be the culmination of the development of the Doric order. Its decorative sculptures are considered some of the high points of Greek art. The Parthenon is regarded as an enduring symbol of Ancient Greece and of Athenian democracy and one of the world's greatest cultural monuments. The Greek Ministry of Culture is currently carrying out a programme of selective restoration and reconstruction to ensure the stability of the partially ruined structure.

El Partenón es uno de los principales templos dóricos que se conservan, construido entre los años 447 y 432 a. C., sus dimensiones aproximadas son: 69,5 metros de largo, por 30,9 de ancho; las columnas tienen 10,4 metros de altura.
