Watson Lake Prescott AZ. Yesterday was pretty windy on Watson Lake. I was the only one out on the water. I was begining to have second thoughts once the wind kicked in. Fortunately I brought my dry sack to keep my lenses and camera dry while traversing the lake. I learned a lot about shooting off a moving platform during my trip to the Galapagos. I am pretty surprised that this actually worked as a pano. Hats off to Flicker letting me upload a large pano, All the other sites either wanted to crop it or rejected the odd size.

It was a cold day at Goldwater Lake in Prescott AZ. Most of the upper lake was frozen after a large snow fall and quick cold spell. When it snows the park is closed until the road, lots and walkways are cleared. It is a little over a mile to hike in. When the snow is deep it takes a bit of effort. It is well worth it because the park is void of other humans, just me, wildlife and unmolested snow. The ducks don't mind me much. An old man with a camera in knee deep snow is less than threatening.

Slight retread. Not sure if it is the same Abert squirrel in the composite I previously posted but it was shot the same day.
A decent snow fall and the park entrances and lots are usually closed so its a little over a mile hike in, mostly down hill. I had the lake to myself I didn't see anyone else the entire day.
Abert Squirrels are usually evasive, but with a decent accumulation on the ground they hop through the snow from tree to tree with impunity.

Baby Galapagos Sea Lion on the Island of Sombrero Chino in the Galapagos Archipelago. This was taken on the second day of my Galapagos trip. I promised my wife that the group wouldn't be waiting on "the old guy with the camera" this trip, and they didn't. Fortunately (or not) this wasn't sold as a Photography cruise, it was more of an educational cruse. I took the trip with some grade school buddies and their spouses. Very few people had cameras so there was never three people trying to get the same shot. The down side was we were always moving and never settled in one spot for more than a moment. But then that is all a photo is, a moment, and I got mine.

Taken on North Seymour Island in the Galapagos.
Aside from a quick glance this Iguana seemed very disinterested with me and meandered by at an arms length.
Taking shots of wildlife in the Galapagos was completely foreign to anywhere else I have been. Animals approach the camera rather than scurry away which was a big change for me. The downside was you are always moving, wether in the water on a Zodiac or walking on a trail. It was a lot of run and gun photography or as some put it "spray and prey".
