A splash of yellow from a clump of Canna lilies growing on the banks of the fresh water Waimanu Lagoons.

These lagoons lie at 90 degrees to the Waikanae River's tidal estuary, and are home to the birds that have been featured over the last 10 days or so...

I don't think these majestic birds need any introduction; they are, of course, Canada Geese, and they weren't in any hurry to get anywhere, and nor did they want to hang around...!

I guess they were just looking...!

I may not be On Line tonight; I've got an Address for ANZAC Day and an Address for Sunday to prepare, but if I'm not around tonight, I should be back tomorrow night...! :-)

Still at the Waikanae's estuary...

Their home is complete. Now (I assume) these Pied Cormorants just have to wait for The Kids to arrive...!

Back at the Waikanae Estuary again...

This Pukeko (or Australasian Swamphen) had an "Hmmm" moment when it spotted something in the grasses that might have warranted a second look...

The pleasing light brought out the lovely rich colours that this bird wears. It can swim if it has to, but it's large splayed feet are designed to carry the bird over the swampy mud conditions it often hunts in...!

One of our Sons-In-Law recently arrived at our gate driving his friend's 1958 Chevy Impala...!

And Flickr Friend Christie (www.flickr.com/photos/christie_by_the_river/): this one's for you...! :-))

This car was in immaculate condition; the original Bubble Wrap (that was covering the seats in the Dealer's showroom) was still on the seat, and the Exhaust Note... Well, the Exhaust Note was simply music to my ears...!

And yes: the steering wheel was still on the left-hand side - just as it had been when the vehicle drove out of the showroom back in `1958...!
