Just returned from a quick trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. About a mile north of the Grand Teton entrance on Saturday, we noticed a large traffic jam up ahead. We didn't get our hopes up too high, as the summer tourist season attracts large crowds of folks who will gather in mobs to look at bison or elk, but we were hoping for a grizzly, and this huge guy didn't disappoint. He was feeding on a hillside, covered in an array of wildflowers and wasn't the least bit bothered by all the onlookers, only glancing up every now and then to check things out. Having a top on the Jeep that flips back comes in quite handy for sightings like this along with a large telephoto lens.

The Tetons are one of my favorite placed to go for mountain scenery, and after many trips there, I decided to find a different vantage point than the usual ones to enjoy a sunrise. The Snake River Overlook is a a spot made famous by Ansel Adams many years ago. He was able to capture the entire bend in the river which is not possible today because of all the trees and other vegetation. I guess everyone else was at the barns or Schwabacher's on this particular morning because we had the entire area all to ourselves. What a gorgeous morning!!!!

This past Saturday, we got up early and headed from Cooke City to the Tetons to enjoy our last couple days of vacation. Didn't see much as we came through the Lamar Valley except lots of bison. As we drove from Roosevelt Junction towards Tower Falls, this little guy was feeding right alongside the road and then meandered back across the road to the stone wall where he climbed on it for awhile before walking down the road again and off into the forest near the falls. He looked far too young to be on his own, and we were quite worried about him getting hit, as folks drive way TOO fast in the park. Hopefully, he will make it. I referred to him as Cinnastripe because he has a cinnamon colored band around his back right leg.

Oh what a glorious morning we had at Schwabacher's Landing in Grand Teton National Park. I love this spot for so many reasons but mostly because of the still waters and reflections of the mighty Tetons range.

While we didn't see nearly as much wildlife as we generally do in the shoulder seasons, we did come across quite a few pronghorn with their little ones in tow. It's so fun to watch the little ones navigate on those legs and try to keep up with mom. In this one, they stopped long enough for a few shots before heading over the ridge and out of sight.
