“All of life is a journey which paths we take, what we look back on, and what we look forward to is up to us. We determine our destination, what kind of road we will take to get there, and how happy we are when we get there.” ~ Author Unknown

Painted Desert - Petrified Forest National Park - October 2011...couldn't have asked for a better day for a drive through this amazing place; reminded me a lot of the Badlands in South Dakota on a much smaller scale.

Have a great Wednesday.....and thanks for all your visits & support!!!!

“The road to positivity is strewn with the abandoned vehicles of the faint-hearted.” ~ Peter McWilliams

An old 1932 Studebaker sits alongside the road that runs through Petrified Forest National Park in a section that was once part of the old Historic Route 66. I couldn't resist a shot of the old classic, using the colorful vegetation as a foreground element :-)

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend....Game 7 of the World Series will be starting shortly; here's hoping the Cardinals can pull it off!!!!! Thanks for all your visits & support :-)

And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. ~ Kahlil Gibran

Hard to resist this combination of colors in the late afternoon light. Photographed along the roadside in the Painted Desert.

Have a great Tuesday....and as always, thanks for stopping by to visit. Happy Halloween to all my Flickr friends!!!!!

Painted Desert Inn is a lodge in Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona. It was built in 1937–1940, on the site of an earlier lodge, the Stone Tree House. It was designed in 1937 by National Park Service architect Lyle E. Bennett and others from the Park Service Branch of Plans and Design. Construction was carried out by Civilian Conservation Corps labor. After updates by Mary Jane Colter, it was operated by the Fred Harvey Company from 1947 to 1963, when it closed. Demolition was proposed in the mid-1970s, but after public protests the building was reopened for limited use in 1976. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. The old Inn buildings were extensively rehabilitated, and reopened as a museum and bookstore in 2006. (source: wikipedia)

Unfortunately, we arrived too late in the day to enjoy a tour of this historic landmark, so we settled instead on enjoying the views from the outside which was quite picturesque in the late afternoon light.

Have a great Tuesday...and as always, thanks for stopping by to visit!!!

“Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless.” ~ Jamie Paolinetti

Painted Desert - Petrified Forest National Park - Arizona, September 2011

Talk about a wide open, vast landscape where the photo opportunities are endless...this place was so amazing with it's array of colors, textures, and various geological features, some of which reminded me a lot of the Badlands in South Dakota.

Two days down, three more to go to the weekend, and 15 more to go to vacation!!!!! Have a great Wednesday....thanks for all your visits, comments, invites, awards, & faves; I appreciate them all :-)
