Painted Desert - Petrified Forest National Park - October 2011...couldn't have asked for a better day for a drive through this amazing place; reminded me a lot of the Badlands in South Dakota on a much smaller scale.

Busy days with the holidays, so not much time to comment or post anything new. So I thought I'd take the time to re-post one of my favorite winter scenes to celebrate the holidays. Wishing all of my flickr friends a safe, joyous holiday season. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year....I look forward to sharing in more photo journeys in the year to come!!!! It was a bitterly cold evening...all day had been dull & bleak, everything varying shades of gray, void of any color except for a quick afternoon break (see post below), so we were delighted to witness this scene unfolding in our rear view mirror on the way back to Cooke City on this particular evening. Just had to jump out for a few shots at one of my favorite spots along the way....Soda Butte Creek....the light from the setting sun reflecting off the snow and water was simply gorgeous....nature's dance....the perfect way to end a day in our little winter wonderland :-)

Took a snowcoach tour while we were in Yellowstone...a great way to experience the park interior since most roads are closed to passenger vehicles. Walked around Porcelain Basin, located at the Norris Geyser Basin, which is always so much more magical in the midst of winter. As we were walking down the boardwalk, I happened to glance back and managed to capture the steam from the thermal features as the sunlight filtered through the trees. Couldn't pass it up :-)
