I couldn't believe how close this Northern Harrier hen came to me. This was the last photograph before she was too close to keep in the viewfinder. I love her piercing eye contact! Shot at f8, 1/6400s, ISO 2500, 200-500mm@500mm

This magnificent Bald Eagle gave me a close pass and a look before banking and pulling a fish from the Columbia River. Shot at f5.6, 1/3200s, ISO 560, 200-500mm@500mm

This lovely bird probably had over 1,000 pictures taken of her yesterday, as the "rare of recent" sunshine event brought her, the rodents, and the people out to enjoy it.

I was shooting the rainbow while sitting in my car at Ridgefield NWR. Suddenly this Northern Harrier hen was coming right at me. I didn't have time to look at my settings, spun the shutter speed dial toward "fast" and got a stop. I composited the two efforts taken from the same spot.
