When you eat babies you draw a lot of intense attention from parents. Here three species with young in the marsh at Ridgefield NWR are uniting as a community to drive off a Bald Eagle with its eyes on their vulnerable young.
The base photo for this includes the eagle and the Red-winged Blackbird. The heron and the Yellow-headed Blackbird were cloned in from two other shots taken in the same burst and placed according to where they were in relation to the eagle. There was so much scolding going on from more than a dozen birds that joined the attack.
