Ann-Lisett Rebane and Katariina Kivi have been friends since chilldhood and until recently both studied at Tallinn Old Town Educational College. In 2015 they formed Duo Ruut (Duo Square) based around the traditional Estonian Zither, the Kannel. Taking the unusual approach of both playing the same instrument facing each other, and sometimes using sticks or a bow. They perform updated versions of traditional songs (emphasing the trace like quality) and their own compositions.
