25th January 2020 at the Royal Concert Hall (Strathclyde Suite).

"Skye in his Heart: A Musical Tribute to Rick Taylor": Celtic Connections Festival, www.celticconnections.com/.

Country: Britain - Scotland. Style: Folk / Jazz / Pop.

Lineup: Anna Massie (v/fiddle/g), Jonny Hardie (v/fiddle), Brian McAlpine (v/piano accordion/p), Eilidh Shaw (v/fiddle), Laura Taylor (v/piano accordion), Inge Thomson (v/piano accordion/keyboard), Corrina Hewat (v/clarsach), Dave Milligan (p/MD), Christine Hanson (cello), Greg Bone (g). Mario Caribé (b), Tom Bancroft (d), Stuart Brown (d), Paul Spong (trumpet), Phil Bancroft (tenor sax), John Kenny (trombone), Chris Greive (trombone), Angus Nicolson (highland pipes/low whistle), Alana MacInnes (highland pipes/low whistle),

Rick Taylor was born in County Durham in 1957. He was a session and touring musician based in London for many decades before moving to the Isle of Skye in 2002. He then became a vital part of the Scottish Folk and Jazz scenes before dying suddenly last year. I took photos of him with the Peatbogs Faeries and Saltfishforty (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/ricktaylor/) and also saw him with the Unusual Suspects, Banda Europa, Martin Green Machine and the Tom Bancroft Six Pack. This tribute concert was a performance of a selection of Rick Taylor's tunes and songs and involved his daughter Laura and Folk and Jazz musicans with whom he worked. I have photographed several of them in other contexts (Massie, Hardie, Shaw, McAlpine, Thomson, Milligan, Caribé, Phil Bancroft, Nicholson, MacInnes). To view click on their names in my tags.
