24th January 2020 at the Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow (supporting Michael McGoldrick).
Celtic Connections Festival, www.celticconnections.com/.
Country: Britain - Scotland. Style: Traditional Scottish Folk.
Lineup: Julie Fowlis (v/whistle/ highland bagpipes), Jenna Reid (fiddle), Carol-Anne Mackay (scottish smallpipes/highland bagpipes/piano accordion), Eilidh MacLeod (clarsach/p), Kathleen Boyle (p/piano accordion), Martin O'Neill (bodhrán),
This was the first gig by Dòchas in over ten years. The group was formed in 1997 by students at the RSAMD (now Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). Carol-Anne Mackay (from Strathy in Sutherland) was a founding member and Eilidh MacLeod (Isle of Skye) and Kathleen Boyle (Glasgow) were soon added. Julie Fowlis (North Uist) and Jenna Reid (Shetland) became members in 2000 and Martin O'Neill (New Stevenston near Glasgow) in 2004. I saw them live twice in 2005 at Edinburgh's Queens Hall (as part of the Ceilidh Culture festival) and in 2006 at the Hammersmith & Fulham Irish Centre. I have taken photos of four of these musicians with other groups: Fowlis ((www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/juliefowlis,-dochas/), Reid (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/jennareid,-dochas/), Boyle (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/kathleenboyle,-doc...) and O'Neill (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/martino%E2%80%99ne...).
