23rd January 2020 at the Royal Concert Hall (Main Auditorium), Glasgow.
BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 20th Celebration, Celtic Connections Festival, www.celticconnections.com/.
I have only attended two finals of this competition (2009 and 2018) as I have usually returned to London by the time it is held. I did see the 10th Birthday Bash in 2010 which featured winners, finalists and organiser Simon Thoumire. This 20th Celebration focussed on winners. 17 of the 19 were present. The only ones missing were 2005 winner Stuart Cassells (commitment from his job at the Edrington Group's Macallan Estate) and 2008 winner Ewan Robertson (touring Australia with Breabach).
Country: Britain - Scotland. Style Traditional Scottish Folk.
Lineup: Gillian Frame (v/fiddle), Hannah Rarity (v).
Most of the performers were accompanied by the House Band for the evening:
Anna Massie (g/fiddle/MD), Mhairi Hall (p), Charlie Stewart (b), Paul Jennings (d/percussion).
Gillian Frame from the Isle of Arran in North Ayreshire was the first winner in 2001. I have photographed her before: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/gillianframe,-youn....
