13th December 2019 at the Royal Festival Hall (Bar level 2), London SE1.

Friday Lunch (free event).

Country: Britain. Style: Contemporary Folk.

Lineup: Ben Walker (g).

Ben Walker is from Evesham and now lives in Brighton. He is best known for his years as Josienne Clarke's accompanist. I took photos of the duo in 2015 (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/albums/72157662371810789/) and 2017 (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/albums/72157685865728131/). He released his first solo album earlier this year. Without the guest singers who joined him then, this set consisted entirely of instrumentals. Several of his own compositions, some traditional Eng;ish Country Dance tunes, and others written by John Dowland, Henry Purcell, Turlough O'Carolan and Gordon Giltrap. Plus one associated with Joseph Spence (learned by Walker from a Ry Cooder album).
In this photo: Walker plays a Fylde Alchemist guitar.
