Asleep at the Wheel was formed in 1969 in Paw Paw, WV and In 1974 moved to Austin, TX. Known for its frequent lineup changes, only Ray Benson (from Philadelphia, PA) remains from the original band. The next longest serving member is Dave Sanger (from Coronado, CA) who joined in 1986. Next after that is Katie Shore, then Katy Holmes, (from Fort Worth, TX) who arrived in 2013. Those who have joined since include Dennis Ludiker (from Spokane, WA) who is a is a three time Texas State Fiddle Champion. Also part of this tour but not regular members of the group were Flavio Pasquetto (from Rome, Italy) and Chloe Feoranzo (from San Diego/Los Angeles, CA). Four foot ten inch Feoranzo is the only one of the band I have photographed before, with Pokey Lafarge in 2015 (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/albums/72157659635354059/). Asleep at the Wheel is one of the few contemporary Western Swing groups to achieve an international reputation. Their set included plenty of well known songs, many particularly associated with the style: "Take Me Back to Tulsa", "San Antoinio Rose", "Faded Love", "Tiger Rag", "Bob Wills is still the King", "Big Ball in Cowtown", "Happy Trails", "Seven Nights to Rock", "Route 66", "Cherokee Boogie", "Miles and Miles of Texas" with a few surprises like Guy Clark's "Dublin Blues".
