9th August (evening) 2019 at Manor Pavilion, Sidmouth.

Sidmouth Folk Festival (previously called Sidmouth Folk Week) / "Tall Ships and Tavern Tales".

Country: Britain. Style: Traditional English Folk - Sea Shanties & Songs of the Sea.

Lineup: Derek Brooks, John Wokersien, Tony Day, David Wright, Dave Bitten, Roger Toby Bourgein, Heather Redding & 7 others [all hidden behind pseudonyms] (v).

On this evening it was good to be inside a solid brick building as strong winds caused havoc and cancellations elsewhere at the festival. This group from Exmouth in South Devon had its first public performance at at the 2007 Exmouth Festival. Their concert billed as "Tall Ships and Tavern Tales" consisted of a series of songs with minimal acting. It was divided into two parts. The first set onboard ship (mainly Shanties) and the second at a dockside alehouse (mainly Sea Songs). Despite their name the lineup here included one woman.
In this photo: Derek Brooks ("Sam Minella") leads the singing.
