23rd November 2018 at Wigmore Hall, London W1.

London Jazz Festival (free event), www.londonjazzfestival.org.uk/.

Country: France. Style: Tango / Chanson / Brazilian / Classical / Jazz.

Lineup: Richard Galliano (chromatic accordion/accordina).

Richard Galliano starting with learning the accordion aged four taught by his Italian father. He also plays the Accordina, a large chromatic harmonica. He ranges across a variety of musical styles as shown by the set list for this concert: five of Galliano's own compositions, three by Astor Piazzolla and others by Charles Trenet, Michel Legrand, Hermeto Pascoal, Ernesto Nazareth, Johann Sebastian Bach, Enrique Granados, Erik Satie, and Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. I have seen Galliano before in 2011 at the Barbican with the Kurt Elling Group, in 2007 also at the Wigmore Hall in a duo with Michel Portal, and in 2006 again at the Barbican with a Septet/Trio/Gary Burton and finally in 1997 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
Note: All these photos were taken during the applause between tunes.
In this photo: Galliano with his Victoria free-bass Accordion (Quint System).
