24th April 2018 at the British Museum (Reading Room), London WC1.
The concert was moved at the last moment from the Great Court. It was nostalgic to return to a room where I spent many hours before the British Library moved out of the Museum to Euston 20 years ago.

Part of "Europe and the world: a symphony of cultures" Festival.

Country: Romania. Style: Western Classical - Choral.
Lineup: Anna Ungureanu (conductor) and singers.

The National Chamber Choir Madrigal was founded in 1963 by conductor Marin Constantin (1925-2011) and now bears his name. The programme for this concert began with Byzantine chant and continued with Renaissance composers mostly from England (William Byrd, John Dowland, Francis Pilkington, Thomas Morley, John Bennet, Thomas Weelkes) but also Germany (Erasmus Widmann, Hans Leo Hassler), Italy (Claudio Monteverdi, Salomone Rossi), France (Guillaume Costeley) and Spanish Hainaut (Orlando di Lasso).
