10th March 2018 at the Calthorpe Arms, London WC1.

Cellar Upstairs Folk Club, www.cellarupstairs.org.uk/.

Country: Britain (including Scotland). Style: Traditional Scottish Folk (and a few English Traveller songs).

Lineup:. Arthur Watson (v/whistle), Peter Shepheard (v/melodeon).

Arthur Watson is from Aberdeen and now lives in Perth. Peter Shepheard is originally from Stroud in Gloucestershire, and moved north of the border in the 1960s to study at St Andrews University. He has lived in Fife for many years. This duo has evolved our of a trio the Gaughers, formed in 1967, and which included founder member Tom Spiers and Arthur Watson (who joined in 1974). After the death of another founder member Peter Hall in 1996, Spiers and Watson started another trio - Shepheard, Spiers & Watson - in 2003. I saw them at this club in 2009. In recent years Spiers has left to perform with his wife and daughter as the Spiers Family (who I saw at the club in 2013). Leaving the duo.
In this photo: Shepheard plays a Castagnari Tommy Melodeon.
