20-year-old Benedict Morris from Airdrie now lives in Glasgow (where he is a student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). Morris grew up playing Irish traditional music with the local Comhaltas. He had just won the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year competition and was performing in the now established slot of first act at the Festival Club immediately afterwards, He was joined by Cormac Crummey from Belfast (with whom he plays in a regular duo) and David Browne (who was in a group from Airdrie, Foinse, with Morris and now studying medecine in Aberdeen).
