25th January 2019 at Queen Margaret Union, Glasgow.

Celtic Connections Festival, www.celticconnections.com/.

Country: Ireland. Style: Traditional Irish Folk.

Lineup: Nell Ní Chróinín (v/whistle), Benny McCarthy (button accordion), Oisin McAuley (fiddle), Ivan Goff (flute/low whistle/uilleann pipes), Éamon Doorley (bouzouki), Tony Byrne (g) and guest: Donnchadh Gough (bodhrán).

Since Danú was formed in 1994 it had gone through many changes and only Benny McCarthy has been there since the beginning. Donnchadh Gough is no longer a full time member but (as here) guests at gigs in Ireland and the UK. Eamon Doorley joined in the late 1990s and Oisin McAuley in the early 2000s, with Nell Ní Chróinín and Tony Byrne the most recrnt arrivals. I have seen Danú live before in 1999 and 2004. I also took photos of McCarthy and Gough in a 2012 reunion of the four founder members of the band (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/albums/72157631932914369/) and of Ní Chróinín performing solo at Gaelic Voices 2018 (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/albums/72157699370109255/).
