Musical Traditions Folk Club, www.englishfolkinfo.org.uk/mustrad/mtc.html.
Country: Britain. Style: Music Hall and Popular Music.
Lineup: Andrew Frank (v), Michael Hebbert (concertina) & guest: Peta Webb (v).
An evening of Music Hall songs (e.g. "The Night I Appeared As Macbeth") and some Tin Pan Alley ones (e.g. "Miss Otis Regrets"). Only one which could be described as Folk - Peter Bellamy's setting to music of Rudyard Kipling's "The Land". This collaboration goes back to the 1970s, including when Andrew Frank was one of the guests on Michael Hebbert's 1977 album " The Rampin' Cat". Over the years Frank has collaborated with other musicians such as Mike Mann and George Hinchliffe (including the Bakelite Boys with the further addition of Dave Sealey). Hebbert bought this concertina in 1958 and has fitted playing and teaching the instrument around his academic career (latterly as Professor of Town Planning).
