This long exposure taken below the main falls at Great Falls NP shows off some of the fabulous colors that was present this morning with the fog and clouds. The white balance as I have mentioned from other posts from this morning was all over the place as the sun rose above the fog and clouds. It was vey dynamic and fun to see the lighting change all morning long.
This was later in the morning as the fog lifted higher. I really like the deep greens in the rocks that are part of the reflection. This was shot with the 9 Stop ND and CPL filters stacked. I adjusted the CPL to about 50% effect.

This is a vertical comp taken at Great Falls National Park outside Washington DC. This location is below the main falls along the Potomac River, and can create some nice reflections when the waterflow is low along the river as was in this case back in October. A handheld shot, I wish I had taken the time then to do a long exposure too with the clouds like that. I did not have the time then, but I wish I had.
This comp was with the polarizing filter that reduced the clouds being reflected, but revealed some of the nice rocks under the water. I will post another version of this frame without the CPL filter.
I am also posting at this time another recent capture here from the same spot that shows off some different colors and tones from the very cloudy and foggy morning.

Here is another version of this capture taken with the CPL filter turned to zero effect. This maximizes the reflection of the clouds on the water. Can compare this to the shot below with the CPL turned to see under the water.

This composition taken back in October was just before the sky really lit up with color at sunrise. I wish I had come back to this location for the capture when that happened, but I had moved on instead. But this comp with the clouds I really like. Makes for a nice moody morning shot there at this slot in the rocks.
