Fluidr / Great Falls Heron by Ken Krach Photography

One of the many great things to shoot at Great Falls, Maryland just outside Washington, DC are the Great Blue Heron that fish along the falls. In this location, the Potomac River drops about 75 feet as it cascades down through the area. This shot was taken with my 70/200mm lens as a close-up of the falls showing one of the heron fishing there with such concentration. This 0.6s expsoure was nice as it really gives a nice feel to the water flow as it rushes by the bird's rocky perch.

It is also amazing watching the birds all of a sudden pluck there heads in and snatch the fish as they go by.
