User / Ken Krach Photography / Burnside Bridge - Muted Reflections of War

Crossing over Antietam Creek, the bridge played a key role in the September 1862 Battle of Antietam during the Civil War when around 400 Confederate soldiers from Georgia for several hours held off repeated attempts by the Union Army's IX Army Corps, whose leader was Major General Ambrose E. Burnside, to take the bridge.

On the cloudy day we visited, I envisioned some nice B&W shot of the bridge, and with the flowing creek, pulled out the ND filters for some compositions to smooth out the reflection.
