While digging through the closet the other day, I ran across my old Scrabble game. At first, I thought I'd pour out the letter tiles and shoot those; but then I decided to use the board and use a photography theme.

I was prowling through a closet shelf the other day, when I ran across a box that contained my stamp collection from when I was a kid. I don't think I had looked at them in years. Naturally I saw a photographic opportunity, and poured some of the loose ones out.

Desperate to photograph something today, and being stranded at the house; I decided to use the 9mm ammunition for my Ruger LC9 pistol that I call "Uncle Charlie." I poured some of them out on the mirrored top of our coffee table to get some reflection. Believe it or not, Uncle Charlie is a part of my photography equipment many times when I go into the mountain by myself. There is quite an assortment of wild animals that live there, including the druggies that go there to make deals in private. (The last time I went to the waterfall on Stone Mountain near my home, I met a carload of out-of-state "riff-raff" heading up the road there. They were not up there five minutes until they came back).

The other day, my youngest daughter posted on Facebook about how she was grateful for her parents, who passed along their love of reading to her. That immediately brought to mind a quote I once heard President Ronald Reagan make during an interview: "If you learn to love reading, you will never be alone." I later found out this was something his mother, Elle Reagan, had ingrained into him.

I am glad all three of my daughters love to read. I was the only child of three who developed a passion for reading. I now have a Kindle HDX that goes with me virtually everywhere. Any time I stop for a few moments, I am reading: during breaks, lunch, while waiting on appointments, etc.

After thinking about Reagan's comment, I wanted to do a photo to reflect the love of reading. I placed a book on the end of my kitchen table with the afternoon sun beaming in. I wanted to put my glasses in the shot, so I definitely had to put it on automatic focus, considering I can't see anything without them. I then added texture to give it a bit of character.
