Capitol Reef, Utah

We’re standing on the top of the western end of the Waterpocket fold, looking roughly south. The horizon line is naturally tilted as a result of monocline geology, not due to poor camera technique. We have a good view of the Pectols Pyramid formation on the left. The basalt boulders scattered around were pried loose from distant lava flows by glaciers and moved around the park by flooding when the glaciers started melting.
