Countless times, the bronze winged horse was photographed as a magnificent background of wedding photos. But few know about the history of sculpture or the mythological meaning of Pegasus.
The hoofbeat of the Pegasos not only created the fountain in Troizen. At the behest of Zeus on the mountains, Pegasos also struck the "heliconic spring". The Greek legend says that he changed from serving Godfather Jupiter to Eos, the lovely goddess of the dawn. As the mountain Helikon grew in the singing competition of the muses with delight ever higher in the sky, brought him Pegasus only with a hoof beat on his head to rest. The source of this was Hippocrene, which enthuses anyone who drinks from it. As a poetic horse, on whose backs poets swing to creative heights, Pegasos appears only in the time of the Romantic era.

Ball with male figure
This artwork is better known by the colloquial term "Balkenhol-Mozartkugel". It consists of a gilded, two-ton ball with a diameter of five meters. The sphere is made of glass fiber reinforced plastic and sits on a wrought iron frame weighing 3.5 tons. At a height of nine meters, a 300-kilogram bronze male figure with black trousers and a white shirt stands on the ball. These clothes are typical for works of art by Stefan Balkenhol.

Leopoldihof

Former. Markgrafenburg Leopold III. with late Gothic bay window
West of the cloister, further areas of the Altstift, which are grouped around the Leopoldihof, are connected. Since this was once the monastery kitchen, this courtyard is also called "Kuchlhof". It is entered by a Gothic gate hall from the 14th century with double-sided seating niches. Just behind it on the western side is the former two-storey palace of Margrave Leopold III, built at the beginning of the 12th century and used as a residence for the Margrave couple. In later times, this building was rebuilt several times. In the late 15th century, for example, the Gothic bay window, the vestibule and the cross-floor windows were added. Finally, in 1860, the newly founded orchard and viticulture school was established, from which the Klosterneuburg School of Viticulture finally developed. Today, the Stiftsarchiv is housed here.

Monument of the famous astronomer and mathematician Johannes Kepler (born on 27.12.1571 in Weil der Stadt, died on 15.11.1630 in Regensburg), designed by August von Kreling.

The monument in honor of the city's most famous Weil der Stadt was built in 1870. At that time Kepler was a symbolic symbol of the nation's spiritual unity. The protagonist portrays Kepler in the pose of the heavenly-looking thinker. Spanish court dress, celestial globe, and compass show him as an imperial mathematician and astronomer. Kepler holds a scroll in his hand with the drawing of an ellipse, the figure he recognized as the orbit of the planets (First Kepler's Law).
