The lake is divided into three basins by islands, peninsulas and submarine sleepers. The western basin extends from Velden to Pörtschach, the central one from Pörtschach to Maria Wörth, and the eastern one extends from Maria Wörth to Klagenfurt. The deepest point of Lake Wörthersee is 85.2 m, the mean depth is 41.9 m.
