A cloudy afternoon at Lake Wörthersee
The Wörthersee, occasionally also Wörther See (Slovenian Vrbsko jezero), is the largest lake in Carinthia and at the same time one of the warmest alpine lakes due to its climate.
The Wörthersee is 19.39 km² in size and extends in the east-west direction over 16.5 km. It lies in a depression in the hilly landscape of the Klagenfurt basin, which was largely formed by glaciers in the ice age. The sea tub extends from the Velden Bay to Klagenfurt. The catchment area of the Wörthersee covers an area of 162.1 km².

The lake is divided into three basins by islands, peninsulas and submarine sleepers. The western basin extends from Velden to Pörtschach, the middle basin from Pörtschach to Maria Wörth, and the eastern basin extends from Maria Wörth to Klagenfurt. The deepest point of Lake Wörthersee is 85.2 m, the mean depth is 41.9 m.(Wikipedia)
