Greylag geese travel to their northern breeding areas in spring and nest on bogs, swamps, around lakes and on coastal islands. They usually mate for life and nest on the ground amidst the vegetation. A clutch of three to five eggs is laid; The female incubates the eggs and both parents defend and raise the young. The birds stay together as a family group, move south as part of a flock in the fall and separate the following year. In winter, they occupy semi-aquatic habitats, estuaries, swamps and flooded fields, feed on grass and often consume agricultural crops. Some populations, such as those in southern England and in urban areas throughout the species area, are mainly resident and occupy the same area all year round.(Wikipedia).
