A first for my photostream and a butterfly I've not seen before - Marsh Fritillary (Euphydryas aurinia) at Strawberry Banks, Gloucestershire
Marsh Fritillaries are threatened, not only in the UK but across Europe. Once widespread in Britain & Ireland, the species has declined severely over the twentieth century. Marsh Fritillary populations are highly volatile and the species requires extensive habitats or habitat networks for its long term survival

Taken at Fen Drayton Lakes, Cambridgeshire during the summer - the first time I've seen this species outside of Norfolk
Nationally rare, Norfolk Hawkers are classified as endangered & are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act. As the name suggests, the species has its stronghold in Norfolk
