This male chaffinch was one in a flock of birds that were flitting around the willows he looked brighter than the others and certainly stood out ( I have faded the sky in the background as it was too bright for the image ) Latin name Fringilla coelebs Family Finches (Fringillidae)

The Curlew Sandpiper breeds in Arctic Siberia wintering mainly in Africa they pass in small numbers through the UK . Curlew Sandpiper have suffered a severe population decline in the last few years and are considered a European Red List Status-- Vulnerable, species . I feel I was very fortunate to see one of the estimated 400 to 700 birds that pass by the UK each year . Sorry about the image quality but the light was very poor
