This obelisk stands along the historic bridge of Argostoli in Cephalonia island in Greece.
The monument has an inscription in four languages commemorating the erection of De Bosset Bridge.
The bridge, which was the largest stone bridge on a sea water body, was erected in 1813 by the Swiss engineer Charles Philip De Bosset to bypass the swampland of Koutavos, which in those years was synonymous with malaria and death.

The heads of the statues of the six continents in front of the entry of the Musée d' Orsay in Paris.
The beautiful allegorical statues were made for the 1878 World Expo in Paris, by the sculptors (from top left):
Aimé Millet (South America), Alexandre Schoenewerk (Europe), Ernest-Eugène Hiolle (North America), Mathurin Moreau (Oceania), Eugène Delaplanche (Africa) and Alexandre Falguière (Asia),
It is interesting to mention that the statues before the installation in Paris, they had been lying in a public rubbish dump in Nantes since 1963.
