GREEK SHEPHERD
A characteristic type of the proud Greek shepherds, living in the high mountains of Pindos in central Greece.
His rough wooden stick is an essential tool for gathering his flock.

This Moroccan, with the traditional uniform and the spectacular colorful hat, sells water in the streets of Marrakesh in Morocco. The bronze cups around his neck are used by his clients for drinking.
He has a very proud expression and great dominant presence.
Although it is an established practice in his country to ask for money for every singe photo, I was surprised that this proud man, after our short conversation, refused to accept any payment.

A coachman in Marakesh in Morroco. Many years of hard work under the harsh African sun are forever engraved in the face of this man.

I meet this woman in the small mountain village of Vradeto in Epirus (altitude: 1340 m).
This kind woman was the only remaining inhabitant of this village after it was abandoned for many years and almost completely ruined.
The reason for the abandonment of the village was that the only way to approach it (until the recent construction of an asphalt road), was a staircase with 1100 steps engraved in the vertical rock of the mountain.
You can see this unique staircase and also other information about this village in the following site of another flickr member:

In her figure are well written the firmness and stoutness of character which characterize the hardened inhabitants of the Epirus mountains, who deserve our estimation and great respect.
