The Eurasian eagle-owl (Bubo bubo) is one of the largest and widely distributed species of owl. The females can grow to a total length of 75 cm, with a wingspan of 188 cm, while males are slightly smaller.
This fearsome nocturnal predator, with the distinctive ear tufts, hunts for a range of different prey species, predominately small mammals, but also birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, large insects and other invertebrates.
