The impressive gate of Palazzo Aragazzi Benincasa in the beautiful historic town of Montepulciano.
Above the gate is the bust of Gian Gastone de' Medici, the last Grand Duke of Tuscany, who lived in the XVIII century.
The writing on the plaque below the bust is a Latin dedication and its meaning is something like: “Generous [Gian Gastone], is with me”.
During its reign, Gian Gastone abolished taxes for poorer people, repealed penal laws which restricted Jews and discontinued public executions.
