KAROLOS TRIVIZAS / 690 items
An iconostasis studiously built and roofed with red tiles, among pine trees in the picturesque village of Limni in the island of Evia in central Greece.
This kind of religious structures for worship, of all religions, are common in almost all countries.
In the Christian countries, you can see crosses, religious sculptures of Christ, Virgin Mary and Saints, small shrines with icons, miniatures of chapels and many other bigger or smaller constructions mainly along the roads.
This photo is one of my large collection of more than six thousand images of these structures (called in Greece iconostases) from all over the world.
You can see more images of iconostases and relevant information about this kind of religious structures, in a photographic album I have published in Greece . . . . . : “ICONOSTASES AND THE GREEK LANDSCAPE”

I would be obliged if any friend from the site could write to me the word used in his country and his language for these constructions.
It will be very valuable for me to collect and record the common names of them in as many languages as possible, which I will include in a research I am making.
