This obelisk stands along the historic bridge of Argostoli in Cephalonia island in Greece.
The monument has an inscription in four languages commemorating the erection of De Bosset Bridge.
The bridge, which was the largest stone bridge on a sea water body, was erected in 1813 by the Swiss engineer Charles Philip De Bosset to bypass the swampland of Koutavos, which in those years was synonymous with malaria and death.
