Half of the world’s habitable land is used for agriculture. Farmers worldwide use a range of poisonous pesticides to get rid of "useless" herbs and invertebrates. And lots of gardening citizens follow their example blindly. That's why for instance wild flowers and hoverflies decline rapidly everywhere. Even though we know that three quarters of our food must be pollinated by flying insects to produce. Next to the fact that residues of the pesticides end up on our own plates.
