Another view of the A-12 Blackbird on display outside the California Science Center. In this view, you can see the two cockpits on the only trainer version of the plane built. One cockpit is for the instructor and the other for the trainee pilot; the rear cockpit is higher.
The A-12 Blackbirds were 'spy planes' and were designed to fly higher and be harder to detect on radar. At Mach 3+ (over 2,300 mph), it was also fast enough to elude pursuit.
Between 1963 and 1968, Blackbirds conducted spy missions over North Vietnam and also North Korea.

This is the largest science museum on the West coast and is one of four major museums on the northside of Exhibition Park; the other are the California African American Museum, Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art (scheduled to open in 2025).
The LA Memorial Coliseum stands across the museum (not visible, but just beyond the right here). It was a game day for USC, so lots of people in Trojan colors; red and yellow.

This is artists Ofelia Esparza and her daughter Rosanna Esparza Ahrens homage to the multiple cultures that is Los Angeles.
They have used many dolls, photos and other figures to form this Mexican Day of the Dead-inspired ofrenda (altar). This multi-tiered altar is part of the museum's Becoming Los Angeles exhibit.

The 'Day of the Dead' of one of many multi-cultural elements celebrated at "An Altar for Los Angeles" at the Natural History Museum. This exhibit in the style of a Mexican Day of the Dead-inspired ofrenda (altar) is part of the museum's Becoming Los Angeles exhibition.
The Day of the Dead is a holiday usually celebrated on and around November 2. It is widely observed by people with Mexican heritage. Although related to Christian remembrances for the deceased for All Souls Day, this festival is a more of a joyful celebration.
