The statue of Giordano Bruno at Campo de' Fiori is surrounded by the vegetable and fish stalls each morning.

This ' farmers market" in the Parione district has been held here since 1869. In the evenings the square is filled with people, both locals and tourists, dining at the many outdoor cafés

Giordana Bruno was a Dominican friar, philosopher, occultist, poet, and earned many other labels. He was also likely a general non-conformist.

His statue at Campo de' Fiori was erected in 1889 near the spot where he was burned for heresy in 1600, partly for his views on the Copernican model. He is viewed by some as a martyr for science.

The Palazzo Farnese, a large Renaissance style palace, was built as the home of the Farnese family; construction began in 1517. Michelangelo redesigned third story and added the deep cornice to the roof line in 1534. The coat of arms on the front of the building is that of Pope Paul III, who was Alessandro Farnese, and had become pope that year.

The palazzo was given to the French government by Italy in 1936 for a period of 99 years, and currently serves as the location of the French embassy in Italy.

In the foreground is one of two identical fountains at Piazza Farnese. The stone basins of these fountains were taken from the historic Roman Baths of Caracalla.

On the upper facade are statues of St Brigid and her daughter St Catherine.
These date from the early 1700s. The beautiful neo-romanesque bell tower dates from the late 1800s.

The church was known originally as Santa Brigida a Campo de' Fiori when Piazza Farnese was part of Campo de' Fiori. There are now two separate, and smaller, squares.

The first church building here dates from the 1400s. It is currently the Swedish national church in Rome.
