This is one of the 'guest' houses that flank the main house, Casa Grande, at Hearst Castle.

At the front of the house is a fountain topped by a reproduction of Donatello's David.

This work is based on the story of Zeus and Ganymede. Homer described Ganymede (a divine hero) as the most beautiful man alive. The story is that Zeus takes the form of an eagle and kidnaps him to serve as his cup-bearer on Mount Olympus.

... is the centerpiece of the Hearst estate in San Simeon. Its facade largely based on that of the Church of Santa María la Mayor, in Ronda, Spain.

Located on La Cuesta Encantada (The Enchanted Hill) overlooking the Pacific Coast, Hearst Castle includes both this main mansion and a number of guest houses. It is both a California State Historical Monument and a National Historic Landmark. Construction began in 1919.

William Randolph Hearst was a businessman and newspaper publisher. Asides from Hearst Castle his primary fame was for his use of populist "yellow journalism" that promoted sansationalism and news that were not quite news, but targeted towards the readers feelings rather than thought.. His influenced on news and popular media is similar that to Rupert Murdoch's influence in promoting news-as-entertainment in recent decades.

Orson Welle's classic movie "Citizen Kane" is said to be based on his character, and his life.
