This bronze statue of Hercules was found in a temple at the Forum Boarium. It now stands in the Marcus Aurelius Exedra of the Musei Capitolini.
Gilded and slightly larger than life, this bronze sculpture depicts Hercules as a well muscled youth holding a large club (mace) in his right hand and an apple in his left hand..
It is one of two surviving full-sized ancient Greek gilded bronze statues of Hercules. The other was discovered at the Theatre of Pompey and is in the Vatican Museum (See:
