Liberty Memorial & National WWI Museum on a rainy Memorial Day weekend as the low clouds and fog covered the tops of the Kansas City skyline behind it. The Memorial site was dedicated in 1921 by 5 supreme commanders from 5 countries. Construction was completed in1926 and dedicated by President Calvin Coolidge. It stands as a memorial to all those who served in WWI and is inscribed with the words "In honor of those who served in the World War in defense of liberty and our country". The U.S National WWI Museum is located beneath the Memorial. It is an icon on the Kansas City landscape.

Liberty Memorial tower at the National World War I Museum in Kansas City, Missouri. 217 feet in height and housing the National WW I Museum beneath it. Construction began November 11, 1921 and dedicated November 11, 1926. A memorial to the 9 millions soldiers that died on all sides of the Great War. An elevator will take visitors to within 43 steps of the top and a wonderful view of Kansas City.
