Another piece of ice about 10 feet out on the frozen lake displaying the hidden beauty of winter's art. No HDR on this one.

Had a little HDR fun with this very small piece of ice out on the frozen lake in the morning sunlight. Always amazed at the beautiful details hidden in ice. It will be soon be covered with 6-8" of snow tomorrow night if the forecast holds true, so wanted to capture its short lived beauty before it was gone.

These ice patterns caught my eye when looking off a bridge down into the spillway at our local park as water slowly ran beneath it. Always amazed at the beauty in nature, even in winter.

Pieces of ice scattered on a frozen lake highlighted by the golden rays of the morning's sunrise.

This very cool looking and unusual tent-like ice formation a few feet from shore was both very remarkable and beautiful. A wonderful display of nature's unusual artwork. It looked like 3 pieces of lake ice left over from a pressure ridge as some of the ice melted, two on the sides and one on the far end. The piece on the right was solid white, while the one on the left had beautiful swirls of abstract designs throughout. They seemed to be perfectly and magically balanced, relying on each other to stay in place. It was about 10 feet long, 4 feet wide and 12-18 inches high. After taking a few photos I turned toward my car, only to hear a loud noise which was the ice formation collapsing behind me, sad to see it go, but felt blessed to have seen and enjoyed its unique beauty while it lasted.
