At the moment I'm writing a book to be published next year, 'Tyneside Road & Rail Services'. I took most of the photos I'll be using myself, but I have been given permission to use this photo taken by a sadly-missed late friend of mine. I can't resist using the photo - look at the Wearsider in the row! - but I want to name the location. I think it's at Durham and perhaps taken from the train, but can anyone corroborate this? If I'm wrong, where was it?

I loved these Metropolitans - very characterful and very, very fast. But their Achilles heels - yes, two - were the appalling fuel consumption and, hidden, below, galloping corrosion. And the salt that was no doubt on the streets of Newcastle this day wouldn't have helped...
