Chathill is as far north as Northern's services get - not far short of Berwick (and only franchising lunacy stops it going thus far), the service and hence the station sees just two services a day - one at a ludicrously early hour, the other at tea time.

So when staying on holiday nearby, this sunny morning found me at Chathill at 0645 awaiting the first service of the day. It arrived with no passengers, terminated and then departed on a trek several miles further north to Crag Mill loop where it could be crossed over.
