Although i had seen these cliffs from a distance several times while driving through Canterbury to Otago, I had never visited the Omarama Clay Cliffs until recently. I was pleasantly surprised by the textures and colours on display at this formation made of gravel and silt that was deposited by rivers that flowed here millions of years ago.

Winter brings a special kind of beauty to Glenorchy, New Zealand. A typical first thing to photograph is the beautiful row of willow trees that grow along the banks of the Dart River. You can capture stunning composition shots of their splendid branches reaching out from the white snow-capped hills in the background.

Imagine this view when you open the door of your mobile home in the morning. I raced out with my camera gear and quickly took this photo. Five minutes later the wind came up and made the reflection dissappear. The snow-covered mountain is called Mount D'Archaic and is 2875m high.
