The popular fashions in our circle at the time were based on making the best of almost no money - this top was a man's vest, bought in a street market for "a bob" (5p) and a smile, converted to halter neck style, cut short and home dyed - it still looked great on her…

Tech. note: the light was quite low in the shade of the overhanging trees so this was a longish exposure and not quite sharp as she turned her head, but overall I like the spontaneous , relaxed look of the photo – and especially her!

Another "Zeitgeist" set of snaps from the 1970s, enjoying a day on the river boats "punts" in Oxford (England) with friends.

These were different from the Cambridge punts as you stood in the boat rather than on decking - slightly less hazardous!

This photo was taken a short while after the previous one, when I meantioned that her top had become rather risqué. It shows her embarrassed "Too late to worry about that now" smile when she realised what had happened and quickly rotated it back, slightly unbalancing us in the process...

I just found another old photo from a day out on the River Cherwell in Oxford. It's maybe not as elegant a shot of Marie as eg the previous one but she seemed to have mastered the technique by this stage and the background worked out nicely...
