On Saturday the country moved to level 2 (of 4) Corona Virus/Covid-19 alert. Yesterday (Monday) we moved to level 3 and tomorrow at midnight advance to the highest level (4). We will have at least a 4-week lock down of the country. At present we will be allowed to go for a walk/run/cycle either alone or with others in your household, but no one else. Supermarkets, pharmacies, petrol stations etc will be open but possibly restricted hours and restricted access. Shops, cafes and restaurants are closing (many closed yesterday).
This morning I went down to the beach for a short walk and it was quiet. The children's playground was closed (taped off) and no one was on the pier.

One of the slightly curved concrete panels on the New Brighton Library, a facility now closed for at least the next four plus weeks.

This morning I went down to the beach for a short walk and it was quiet. The children's playground was closed (taped off) and no one was on the pier.
This was a one-man operation with the digger driver also driving the truck to dump sand below the high tide mark.
In the background are the ships 'STI Leblon' and oil tanker heading into Lyttelton, and on the right the bulk carrier 'Remy Enterprise'. Both ships must have come down the coast together as they were both in Napier two days ago.
